SCORPIONS Drummer Talks About The Making Of 'Unbreakable'
May 6, 2004SCORPIONS drummer James Kottak has launched his official web site at this location. In a posting on the site, Kottak had the following to say about the songwriting and recording process for the group's new album, "Unbreakable":
"This will give you and idea of the laborious process it is to create 'The Ultimate Hard Rock CD'... 'Unbreakable', which Rudolf, Klaus, Matthias, and myself wrote over 150 songs, with only 13 songs making the grade! Well...we have a few tucked away for special release....HA! I am proud to say that 4 of my own songs appear on the record... Yeah!!!
"Preparing for 'Unbreakable' actually started over 2 years ago. After the Berlin Philharmonic CD 'Acoustica', we knew it was time for a smash and trash hard rock extravaganza.
"Starting while on tour in 2002, we would sit in the back of the tour bus late night, playing each other songs each of us had written, writing, listening to new stuff on the radio, and brainstorming what each one of us thought which direction should the new CD take. Soon after it was unanimous, which is to make the ultimate hard rock CD!!!
"It wasn't really that profound, we just knew we had to come up with 20 great hard rock classics, which was easier said than done."
